Stormy’s Storm

Stormy's Storm

Hi and a very happy Monday to you all, boo hoo you say start of week and all that.  Well lets hope this shot cheers you up. We went to The Peaks as promised on Saturday, weather wasn’t great but it didn’t rain until we got back to car and set off for home.

We left one car at the  foot of Winnats Pass and then drove up and left my car at Mam Nicks car park, we headed up Mam Tor then onto Back Tor and Loose Hill before descending into Castleton for a well earned Coffee, Jo had Fish ‘n’ Chips with Karen  they smelled delicious, Stormy managed some too, well half a fish, while being fussed over by tourists.

Todays shot is Stormy’s Storm, she’s stood pretty close to the edge of Back Tor with the storm clouds brewing behind her, we were inundated with people wanting to fuss over her, wish I had bottled what she has, Mam Tor was as usual swamped with groups out for the, clicking away at their friends stood behind the Trig Point like they have  just ascended Everest.

Pretty much a perfect day enjoyed greatly with friends and Stormy of course, back out tomorrow weather permitting.

If your passing Barnsley Central Library please check out my Peak District exhibition, all uplifting shots non of this “moody, dull and dark” stuff. If I want to make people moody and feel depressed , turn on the TV.

All framed worked sold at very reasonable prices, feedback greatly appreciated.

Sunrise and Rocks

Sunrise over Curbar Edge in The Peak District, beautiful warmth radiates upwards as the nights freezing cold retreats.

Saying that it is my day job, I’m in trouble

Ladybower Symmetry

Ladybower Symmetry

Been asked by a Calendar company to supply shots of The Peak District  for 2012 so started going through my archives yesterday and came across this, will it make it into the final batch I don’t know but it has potential I think.

Very windy today so it will only be a short walk with Stormy, she’s curled up on the Sofa in the movie room watching me with her laser eye.
Back out in The Peaks tomorrow and definitely weekend Ridge Walk, bet it throws it down!

Mam Tor Sunset Pt 3

Mam Tor Sunset Pt Three

Final part of the Mam Tor Trilogy, composition is slightly off centre, probably not the best but the idea was to go right, left and centre but bang centre looked far to wrong, with this you get the last light of the sun hitting the centre. Didn’t manage to get out again yesterday but hopefully tomorrow is a Peaks day, come on weather do your stuff!

Mam Tor Sunset Pt 2

Mam Tor Sunset Pt Two

Well its Tuesday and I’m stuck in waiting for a delivery, boo hoo, missed a beautiful sunrise this morning, the sky was pink and peach with a frozen haze across the horizon, maybe next time .

This shot is part two of the Mam Tor trilogy, 3rd part tomorrow, its taken a few minutes later and from a slightly different angle, its good to experiment and different shots and angles appeal to different people, thats what makes this work so fulfilling, shots you dont like someone loves, wonderful isnt it?

Mam Tor Sunset Pt 1

Mam Tor Sunset Pt One

Hi all

Had a great weekend, got soaked on Saturday playing about with the caravan while still trying to cope with just having 3 cortisone injections in my shoulder…long story, anyway its feeling better today thank God. But yesterday me Jo and Stormy headed down to Castleton and Mam Tor. We arrived quite early and were greeted by Para Gliders and Hang Gliders buzzing all around, close up and real close up shots to follow, I was in my element.

Was quite busy with lots of tourist at that time and I must say quite a few were irresponsible dog owners and litter louts.  “My Soap Box Bit”, if your going to a place that’s ranked high in the world of beautiful locations then please please keep your dog on a lead, clean up after it and for Gods sake take your rubbish home with you, Storm has a passion for cigarette ends, tissue and chewing gum,”not from me may I add”  as you can imaging she loved it, I have made a promise to myself that the next person I see litter, let their pooch foul or spit chewing gum are going to have their faces rubbed in it! . Would make for an interesting court case don’t you think.

Anyway as the weekend warriors left we remained, we three only and were rewarded with this most beautiful of sunsets, I have 3 parts to this which I’ll upload later, you can view these now HERE, you can also buy the prints there too.

We arrived at 3:30 pm and left 6:15 pm by which stage we were freezing and Stormy was getting restless chewing her lead, she soon got fed up of watching the gliding men in their amazing machines buzzing overhead and irresponsible dog owners letting their dogs run free over the Tor. We headed home and had a hot late from McDonalds, Stormy had her chews which she loves.

Very content and feeling the warmth return to our numb fingers I knew I had some special shots that only I could have taken as I was the only person there with a camera in the whole world, very humbling really.

Back out this week on another adventure with Stormy

Edale Falls

Edale Falls

Shot from Grinds Brook Edale walking from Nags Head up towards Kinder Scout, beautiful peaceful stroll requiring little effort and pretty good for dog walkers as well.
And yes I was stood in the falls to take the shot but its cooling and I think worth it.
Off to Castleton again this weekend with Jo and Stormy, hope we get the weather.

Castleton Snowdrops

Castleton Snowdrops

Hi all
slightly macabre, I don’t know, but it was so peaceful and beautiful at Castleton yesterday. The sun was out all day and as I walked past the church the Snowdrops looked like little light bulbs welcoming spring into the year, just had to take a shot.

Going back this weekend to do the Ridge Walk with JO and Stormy, weather permitting

Stormy Does Mam Tor

Adrian and Stormy Mam Tor

Had a wonderful day in The Peaks. We climbed Mam Tor ancient hill fort and the weather was glorious. Stormy pulled me all the way up, she is great at this and I wear a waist belt lead so it takes little effort on my part, unfortunately she pulls the same way down as well, can be a little scary at times!

Great views from clear skies all around and there were several guys setting up to go paragliding off the edge…..fools.

Anyway Stevie B got this great  shot of me and Stormy looking the part as intrepid photographer and 4 legged helper.  Steve gave her some chips at the pub in Castleton, but I abstained, good boy that I am, another 9 lb  to lose then its goal accomplished for this year.

Had a mooch around Castleton after and bumped into a guy from Hauntastic Events who gave us a great rundown on the hauntings and ghost hunting he does, very interesting guy, checkout his site HERE maybe worth a visit, they carry out paranormal investigations using the latest equipment and view the research from all possible angles before making judgements.

Back out later in the week into The Peaks again, weather permitting  and Stormy is up for it.

Shots to follow.
