Penmon Lighthouse Sunset

Penmon Lighthouse Sunset

It’s Sunday and I thought I’d start the week off with this sunset form Penmon, The Penmon lighthouse also known as Trwyn Du Lighthouse was one of the later lighthouses to be constructed in this area, and was, like many, built after a major loss of life nearby. It marks some rocks that are on the end of land going out towards Puffin Island (Shots Later) but also marks the north entrance to the Menai Straits.

We went down for a sunset shoot and the place was packed with fishermen, school trips, camper vans ready for a sleep over, oh and 2 photographers, me been one of them the other guy a South African, don’t think he’d made a special journey though!.

Anyway this is the first of many from this location, some great moon shots to follow viewing towards llanfairfechan from Penmon.

This shot dedicated to Rachel and Nick, lovers of this area, meee tooo!

I wont bore you with cut and paste blogs on history etc, google  Penmon Lighthouse, the best info  I found was HERE

A beautiful photo and the colours are amazing. I feel all calm after looking at that 🙂

Thanks Phil, it is one of those places down the end of a single track lane that when you arrive makes you feel at peace, so I hope the image has done that, I’m more jealous of the families staying overnight to see sunrise there too, mind you that bloody bell warning of danger going every 30 secs will get awfully loud in the still of the night and I would imagine a little scary, especially if there is a FOG….remember that film?

      all the best

it is a superb place to chill out and have a BBQ sitting on the pebbles watching the sun go down and listening the gentle whhoosshh of the sea landing ashore….. I was listening to “The Lost Children” it went perfectly with this image
