Boulders ‘n’ Water

Edale Boulders

Very simple but hopefully effective shot of boulders at Edale as the stream trickles through rocks and make a gentle splash into the granite lined pool, 9 second shot so the water is creamy and reflective.

Been feeling quite low recently after finding out about a friends betrayal….not nice I know but then when you really think about it you shouldn’t let the little things in life bother you. This morning Joanne  said “I love you” which is something not said daily as I guess well most days she doesn’t!! by that I mean we’re not one of those couples who need false reassuring every day. And you know what I suddenly felt a lot better, a weight lifted from my shoulders and I can see clearly now with a purposeful direction. This must be what they call the power of love. Knowing you have each other fighting in your corner even if they don’t say it 20 times a day by text etc is all you need sometimes.

So this is for Joanne my ROCK

Love you

Sunrise Soldiers

Sunrise Soldiers

Thought I would make Wednesday a brighter and more uplifting day  with this shot I took a little while ago at Spurn Point on the east coast, the suns rays just making a guest appearance through the morning clouds are they are burnt away. The old wooden breakers standing guard against the tide and protecting the beach against the seas advances.

It can sometimes be a little eerie as the wind whistles and whispers through the breakers, but the sight of that sunrise kissing the sky soon makes you feel at ease and safe.

Out in The peaks tomorrow doing hopefully a star trail sequence with Stormy, weather permitting

have a great day

Stormy Stare

Stormy Stare

Friday the 13th ….hhhmmmmm we need some good luck today then

For some its to do with the Witches Sabbath for others its The Knights Templar. Who cares when all we need to do is look into those gorgeous eyes of Stormy and know that all is well and that the word “Chicken” can make a little husky look at you as though you’re  the only thing that matters in the world

have a great weekend

Millstone Edge Millstone

Millstone Edge Millstone

Second shot from the walk up on Millstone Edge this week, its a little dangerous as you walk along the path, steep slopes to the right and difficult undergrowth and rocks to the left, not a great combination when you’re trying to carry a tripod and camera over one shoulder and a manic pulling husky with the other.

I must admit though it is a breath taking place and with unspoilt views across Hope Valley and beyond make it a well worth visit.

Hopefully out tonight sunset and star trails….weather dependent

Millstone Edge

Millstone Edge

Had a great little walk up on Millstone Edge yesterday with Stormy, the weather didn’t play fair at all, intermittent sunshine but mainly overcast and gloomy, not a happy bunny… anyway managed a few shots that are worthwhile this being one of them, lovely to see such wonderful colour coming back into the Peaks, blossom and the rock colours do it for me. Also love the lead in path way.

Stormy managed to catch a mouse or vole or some such critter, took some prizing out of her mouth, yukky

Back out again Thursday

Bluebells 2

Bluebells 2

Ok so its another Bluebell shot, sorry cant help myself they are such an iconic British countryside flower, it instantly brings the feeling of spring into summer and warms you.  Again this makes use of my star and polariser filters did I say they are by “LEE Filters” been really lucky with my light lately but I guess you just have to keep getting out there and shooting don’t you?

The weather is turning summery now as we have thunder and rain storms, hey ho, out with the waterproofs and wellies then…oohh forgot to say my wellies they came and they are fab, bought from Country and Garden, they were very helpful and even swapped them as I ordered a size too big, a big thank you to them. The wellies work in all temperatures and conditions and fit well like a glove! thick lined neoprene and a rugged sole, they may be expensive but when I’m scrambling around over rocks and in the sea I don’t want to ruin my £150 Salomon boots plus these cover me to my knees.

We’re off into the Peaks later for some water shots and stormy can have a dip, don’t know where yet, just looking through some route maps

Have a great day

Scout Dike Bluebells

Scout Dike Bluebells

Was a great weekend wasn’t it?, thundery rain at night but beautiful sunshine in the day, perfect combination….

Managed a lovely walk with Jo and Stormy yesterday at Scout Dike Reservoir, they have recently re done the footpath and made it a lot more accessible to the public. We went slightly off the beaten track and came across this lovely scene with the sun bursting through the old trees and bathing the  patches of bluebells in misty light…….ok so I tricked it slightly yes old faithfuls are used here, my heliopan polariser on full tilt for the colour and my star filter for the rays but ssshhhh dont tell anyone…another to follow later

Oh and Stormy managed to find the most decayed trout cast aside by a fisherman, we had to baby wipe her face and mouth, she stank!

have a great day, back in The Peaks tomorrow

Over Owler Millstone Forrest

Millstone Forrest

Friday at last and this one is from a little while ago, sunshine casting rays across the remaining millstones at Over Owler, Peak District, again this is using a Lee Filter I got from the USA, takes a lot of fiddling around to get the composition right but I think its well worth it and adds to the shot.

This one if for Dave a mate whose not 100% at the mo so I hope brings a smile to his face…keep plodding on mate

have a great weekend

Sunset Rays

Sunset Rays

Still processing shots from Scotland and this was making use of my Lee Star filter, a really useful piece of glass you can angle and create the rays to suit your shot, believe me its not quite that easy you do have to play quite a bit with it to get the right image meanwhile the sea is coming in and the light is fading fast, still I think I got this about right.

Liverpool bound this morning, hope my day goes well, Stormy’s not impressed she’s not coming with me and I must admit I really don’t like leaving her, she;’s had her morning dinner and slice of toast! we did go for a sunrise walk this morning and what a beauty it was, mist rising off the local fishing lake and salmon pink skies above

Summer Bokeh

Summer Bokeh

Well were back after having a wonderful long weekend away at Clumber Park, Worksop. Now I know it doesn’t sound glamorous but it really is a beautiful place with loads of wooded country walks and of course the lake itself an 8 mile hike round. The weather was fantastic and we BBQ’d with my my sister and her husband, my niece came with her lovely little lad Lewis, he had a Robin Hood outfit on so I took loads of shots of him…hes a little poser already.

Stormy took to her bike attachment as I knew she would and we managed a few 4 mile rides with her jogging at my side, we got quite a few comments and people asking where they can get one from……..attachment that is!

Attached shot was taken as the sun set, my gorgeous wife Joanne picked a dandelion up held it to the setting sun, blew and hey presto just managed to catch it as the seeds flew away and with the tight focus created a bokeh…think this may make it to a wall canvass.
