Northumberland Sunset

Hi all

been a while I know,  been so busy lately with one thing and another but I finally managed to get away for an overnight shoot and camp up at Northumberland, I admit I’m smitten with the place now and will have to venture back over the next few months to capture more stunning and beautiful scenes.

This will be the first of many from Embleton, a beach with not only pure sand but these huge boulder/pebbles, I sat there from 7pm until 11:30pm  such was the sunset, even then I kept turning round to see the fading light and colours. Unfortunately the camp site locks up at 11pm so I ended up leaving the car on the main road and carrying all my gear into the tent, a little cramped but I did manage to sleep in the end.

As with all my work the scene is set in the camera and filters used to enhance the colours, I never crop or add things that weren’t there to begin with, 99% completed at location the way it should be thats the fun bit and the passion. In photoshop I only clean dust off and sometimes the horizon level, maybe a little dodge and burn if needed, this one didn’t even need and of that, just the dust spots removed.

If you would like to come along on one of my courses and learn exactly how this is done then check out my workshops for more info.

Who’d have thought it

I get in some places….yup just sold this print to Tel Aviv of all places, doing my bit for the Peak District.

Big day tomorrow, flypast at Derwent for the 70th anniversary of the Dambusters, very close to my heart for me as dad was in the RAF in the 50’s and he’s always told me of the bravery of the 617 squadron , one of his favourite pieces of history from WWII. I believe there are several of the surviving crew meeting up at the shore side, would be wonderful to shake their hands but I doubt I’d get that close. Still God bless them all.

Lets hope for blue skies and a great flypast for us all

Sunset White Wash

Hi all

been a while since my last post, been real busy with prints and workshops.

Today’s offering is from Anglesey, beautiful sunset rays dance across the night sky as the shoreline rocks are washed with incoming tide. One of my main locations for workshops, I spend many hours just standing waist deep in the sea there watching the sun set, it’s just one of those places.

Next workshop sessions are 15th June onwards and I have a few places left, if you would like to attend on or buy a place for a birthday then please do email me with your preferred date, I’ll try my best to accommodate.

Please do note that my workshops are fully insured and I am ABIPP and ARPS accredited. First Aid Cover, Food and Insured Transport are included with every booking.

I wouldn’t trust anything less

Blacks Ice falls

Following on from the Iceberg shot I did on Wednesday here is a somewhat Nania-esque image of the falls in full flow complete with shards of ice and misty freezing spray….I think I remarked how cold it was sat in the water and especially as it came in over  the top of my wellie…I never learn!

I’ll be hitting Anglesey tomorrow, a couple of workshops booked so I’m really looking forward to meeting some new friends in the making, plus getting out in my Snowdonia and especially the sea which I’ll be up to my waist in by Sunset tomorrow…

Have a great weekend all

Iceberg In The Peaks

Had a wonderful afternoon yesterday, had so much work on lately and haven’t had time to catch up with my winter shots so it made up well for it.

As the title suggest I came across this mini iceberg at the waterfall in Blacks near the Woodhead Pass, the recent thaw hadn’t quite got to this little clough and winter wonderland was still in all its beauty, I don’t think it will last much longer so we spent a good couple of hours there. I managed a good soaking too as I had to sit in while taking this shot and also got a wellie full which was fun walking back down with sloshing around my foot.

I think I must have a good 10 shots worthy of sales, so this is the first and is available on the site under Peak district Water.

Getting shots ready for clients the rest of the day and Stormy is in need of a big walk which she’ll get in a while

Coniston Reeds

Happy Easter all and welcome to April too,

Can’t believe how time is passing by so very fast, I have so much on at the moment plus some excellent commissions which I am really excited about, I’ll post more info when they are confirmed.

Workshops booked for next week on Anglesey too, hope that snow stays around a little longer for me and a good catch up with friends is on the cards. Only  7 days to the Zip wire escapade at Bethesda, can’t wait, GoPro primed and ready, will post the video as soon as I can after…..

Today’s shot is of the reed bed at the north end of Coniston Water, a truly tranquil place with sublime views to the hills and the outreach of the lake. It’s a hand held shot which generally allows for the best composition as you have complete freedom of movement with your camera, though you do need a steady hand and the Image stabiliser turned on the lens active.

May get a trip out later to Blacks in The Peaks,  the waterfall is semi frozen and may be worth a shoot, if not then I’ll do it Wednesday when I have more time.

Have fun

Adrian

Coniston Winter, well Spring tree

Morning all, finally made it back from Coniston, minus the van! thats stranded in a snow drift on site and we have to go back later in the week to collect again.

Apart from the obvious snow and hassles that come with it, we had a pretty productive week photography wise including a trip up The Old Man of Coniston which resulted in me walking an asthmatic back down from above the snow level, such fun….

Today’s image is of Coniston Water and a little footbridge that takes you over towards Torver from Coniston, a lovely little walk and I was lucky enough to be the first on scene with fresh snow, it does pay to be up early some days.

I had chance to try out my new gadget too while I was there and big thanks go to Mark at N E Fing.com for rushing me my Hyperdrive Colorspace 1TB photographers dream backup device through, cheers mate, his site is well worth a visit and he’s a top bloke too, has almost everything you could want on it, mention me he may give you a % off.

Loads of shots to follow, will start processing them ASAP, back out in the snow shortly for a play with Stormy.
