Crystal Clear Sunset

Crystal Clear Sunset

Hope you all had a fab weekend and bank holiday, we had a few great walks up at Langsett and Dearne Valley, thankfully Stormy is back to normal being a little scamp but more importantly eating again, was worried for a day or two there, we think it was due to her having been in season, she did it last time a few weeks after, she’s responsive to commands too where she tended to ignore you last week.

This shot from Anglesey and utilizing my trusty crystal ball to add a side effect to the wonderful sunset, I had my reverse grad filter on which gave me this great sky colour.

Cant wait as I’ll be heading back down real soon for my next workshops, lasers at the ready

have a great week

The Last Sunset

The Last Sunset

Wednesday already, cant believe how fast the weeks are going, dare one mention Christmas..lol!!

As the name suggest this was my last sunset on my recent shoot at Rhosneigr, Anglesey. Was such a beautiful evening, warm air and a stunning sunset, slow swirling sea lapping around my knees…ahhh, I stayed long after the sun disappeared and just listened to the sea and the sound of the birds winging their way home to bed, they were probably out hunting for food for their little ones tucked safely away in a nest somewhere.

Heading back for workshops in May and June so I’m very excited, I do hope the weather plays fair and we get chance to recreate some of my favourite shots on this my second home Island.

Hoping you all have a great day

Sunset Crystal Bokeh

Sunset Crystal Bokeh

At last the rain has stopped and the sun is out, seems like forever since we had the warmth and light of the sun on such a beautiful morning.

I thought I’d better post a sunset shot, again from my Wales trip. This time it’s a “Bokeh” you may or may not have heard the word/term before, it’s a Japanese term for blur or haze and it’s usually best used for lights behind the subject you have detailed in your shot, so sharp focus on the crystal ball and haze or blur on the sunset.

Got a heritage walk to shoot this week, hope the weather picks up as they need it buy Friday, may try and do it today…Stormy’s up for it and Jo is on leave today.

Lets hope this week improves some what

Rolling Wave Sunset

Rolling Wave Sunset

As the title says rolling wave sunset, a little of everything really, taken during the last few minutes of light, the clouds diffusing the suns powerful rays and tinting the sky with ethereal colours. This is one of what will be my Calendar shots for next year due to go on sale Sept/Oct this year, struck a nice deal with a publisher for these so I’m really pleased about it, won’t post anymore from it and I’ll leave this as a taster.

The rain is still pouring down, I think I may start building a large boat in the garden if it goes on much longer, the weather girl all be it good looking but obviously rather dim is promising a brighter day tomorrow, so based on her advice I’ll do a shoot I have been commissioned for by the local authority for a regular magazine they produce, this one is  a 3 mile heritage walk so Stormy and Jo will be my companions on this one, failing hat it looks as though the rain will be back Sunday for the week ahead!!!!!

Hope you all have a great weekend

Waves n Rocks at sunset

Waves n Rocks

A beautiful sunset at Paradise Beach or Rhosneigr as its known….

I used a Singh Ray Reverse Grad filter to get the wonderful tones out of the sky whilst maintaining  a natural sea and waves with just a hint of slow shutter to make the waves a little  creamy.  Processing was simply, clean dust and spray from the shot and adjust levels and saturation…simple eh

Taking dad to hospital later, he has a blocked gland or something under his eye, looks a right mess and it has to be drained etc etc….not one for the faint hearted me thinks. I’ll be happy taking him and waiting, don’t want to see it!

Have a great Wednesday

Sunset Pyramid

Sunset Pyramid

Another piece of art inspired photography here from my Wales trip, this time with my trusty crystal pyramid upturned. Believe me it wasn’t that easy a shot to compose, the darn pyramid for one kept falling over every time the breeze blew and then the waves kept hitting the back of the rocks sending spray over and soaking not only the crystal but me too!. Anyway I hope you like it, it’s not my usual composition by rule but I like the fact that the rock dominated the scene but the harmony created by the setting sun and crystal work nicely together, the just off 50/50 split and the break in the sea draw the focus back to the crystal…..

Rain forecast yet again today, in fact it’s forecast all week and were off on a long walk this coming weekend. I have a couple booked now for my June sea shoot on Anglesey, I also have a spare slot for May if there are any takers out there.

Date 13-18 May if anyone is interested please email me to book between these dates

Pyramid Sunset

Pyramid Sunset

Hi All

Thursday already, the weekend approaches fast eh?, still raining here, they better not bring in a hosepipe ban..lol we had over an inch of rain yesterday and they’ll say it fell in the wrong place1..

This shot is again from Rhosneigr in Wales, utilising my trusty crystal pyramid again, this time laying on its side to reflect more of the sea and sunset, I love the warmth of the sun against the rock as the setting sun reflects from the sea.

Have a few more workshops booked now so I’m pleased they are taking off and feedback is all positive…unless they’re scared of me.. particularly the seascapes sessions, must admit its a favourite of mine, so much emotion and passion in the sea.

Have a great Thursday

Sunset Vent

Sunset Vent

Wednesday and the rain has returned with a vengeance, had me awake half the night with it thrashing against the window, Stormy was oblivious to it, choosing to lay on her back on her waterbed….yes my husky has a water bed, it keeps her cool…don’t ask!

Today’s offering is from guess where…of course Wales. Taken during a workshop I did recently with a mate and fellow tog Barney. Not going to explain too much about it other than it’s all real no Photoshopping, well only to clean the dist bunnies off and check the levels, other than that it’s as it came out of the camera.

hope the weather improves somewhat though the forecast is poor for the rest of the week.

Ah well its time for Stormy’s 2nd walk of the day, she’s happily ripping a toy to pieces to get to its heart or squeaker as we call it

Penmon Shoreline

Penmon Shoreline

A beautiful spring day at one of my favourite places, Penmon lighthouse or Trwyn Du lighthouse was one of the later to be constructed in this area, like many others it was built after a major loss of life nearby. It marks an area of rocks that go out toward Puffin Island, it also marks the north entrance to the Menai Straits.

It was a perfect afternoon with the sea gently lapping against the shoreline, I had the whole area to myself for this shot, a very rare occasion indeed as this is such a popular area for family’s, photographers and fisherman alike. Not long after this shot a few fishermen did turn up and a family sat on the far side hoping for a glimpse of a porpoise as they often swim by at certain times of the year.

Very little done to the image, circular polariser to enhance the blues and whites and cleaned  and leveled in Photoshop.

More to follow
