Loch Leven – Fire In The Sky

Loch Leven - Fire In The Sky

Bit of a late upload today, been busy finishing a special for tomorrow and updating the website.

You may notice that I now have music on the home page, you may also find this annoying..lol,  if you scroll down there is a control to stop it or go to another page and this will stop it too. It’s there primarily to accompany the viewing of the home page slide show. Anyway I’ll be changing the music regularly.

Still got this darn cold, really fed up with it now, Jo’s gone back to work, she hates been off sick.

Off out with Stormy for a little walky then its physio tonight, can’t wait to start training again, it’s getting me down now!

All my best

Sunset, Moon And Yet More Rain

Sunset, Moon And Yet More Rain

Whilst in Scotland we saw more rain than we generally see in a year in Yorkshire. Most of the time it was coming down sideways accompanied with a gale force winds. I now know why most Scots are miserable and why we have so many of them down here..lol seriously we talked to a girl on hols and her boyfriend had moved up there to work, he’d lasted 3 months and was almost insane with wanting to get away from the rain, apparently it had rained almost everyday for the last 12 weeks and he was suffering from Seasonal Affected Disorder….thought we had it bad!

Like most shots this one took a load of cleaning as the camera and filters were coated  in sea spray and rain, as was I for the umpteenth time, course I was getting used to it by then!

I have just about got over my cold, hopefully be fit for working this weekend at Leeds, Jo’s off work so it must be bad as she is never ill and more so never off work, think last time she was ill was the millennium when we had the flu together, it’s good to share inst it?

Got my book through yesterday for my ABIPP, looks great, so its all systems go now for the 6th December. Starting doing my Photoshop exams in the New Year too to be a qualified trainer so if anyone want s some lessons let me know.

Enjoy you Wednesday

Dumfries Sunrise Peace

Dumfries Sunrise Peace

Thought we may need a splash of calming colour to brighten up this dreary Monday, drizzling rain and grey here so it got me in the mood to process another Mossyard image. You know I’m often asked about processing and how much adjustments I do to create such unique images, the truth is you need to be where I am and at that time. My father in law was with me on this shoot and he couldn’t believe his eyes the sky was stunningly beautiful with amazing colours that lasted for only few moments. most people are asleep during this time.

This shot has had a little work done to it and I don’t mind telling people what I do, its cleaned from all spots of dust and sea spray then in curves I adjust the light and dark areas so they balance to my taste and the histogram looks OK, I then adjust the Saturation and Contrast again to my taste but best to suit my memory of the day and bring back the amazing feeling I had while taking it…..it’s like have a hit from a drug..not that I have, who can afford them!

Hope this has  brightened up your day somewhat.

Magenta Loch

Loch Leven - Magenta

After thinking for several hours, ok seconds it’s the only title I could come up with. It does however say it all, it’s a Loch and it’s Magenta and it’s called Leven…nuff said!

The magenta cast is actually brought about by the filter I used and the exposure time, it’s then edited in photoshop and the saturation is increased to this desired effect. I only ever increase/decrease what is already there, I never add anything….not that there is anything wrong in doing that, it’s all art as far as I can say but I like to think I got the composition right in the first place.

Some good news as well

Discover Britain now shows one of my images to entice our friends across the big pond to make The Peak District their holiday destination,  click HERE then page 38 top left

Also the Peak District visitors guide 2012 will also feature another of my images Ladybower Autumn, I think one of only six to be featured, so not a bad week considering….oh and I got a few nice little commissions come in as well so once I’m over this stinking cold I’ll be busy as a bee.

Have a great weekend

Glen Etive Falls

Glen Etive Waterfall

Glen Etive is quite a long but safe walk, not too many inclines and when you’re carrying all your camera gear it’s certainly a help. There are a series of these waterfalls well streams some better than others along the way. As we walked into the Glen the setting sun was overshadowed by heavy storm clouds coming from the south. Thankfully they never took hold and for once we stayed relatively dry.

Made up with cold  today so it a “stay in and process day” I was looking forward to a trip out with Stormy…..looks like The Fleets again, mind you I cant complain, take a look below, its a 5 min walk from my house and Stormy loves it.

Barnsley - The Fleets

Think I’ll drive down though and save my energy for 2 laps with Stormy, hope I’m well enough for doggy training tonight. 🙁

Another from my Scotland trip, still processing them got loads to go at, think I’ll have a change soon though and head back to Wales for my winter shots.

This shot shows the swirling mist as it envelopes the peak. Truly a wonderful place and a must for any photographer, a passage of rights if you like. I hate stock shots that are repeated over and over again buy everyman and his dog in varying degrees of processing and talent but this place has to be done.

Got a few more inquiries now for the Peak training so that will be taking up my time for the next week or two plus I have a few commission shots on for clients, looks like Christmas will be ok…lol

have fun
